Lori A. Beaman is Associate Professor of economics at Northwestern University, Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and Research Affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy and Research (CEPR) and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL). She serves as Associate Editor at the Journal of Development Economics, the World Bank Economic Review, and the Journal of the European Economic Association.

Lori is a leading development economist whose research interests are centered on three themes: the role of social networks in the labor market, agricultural technology adoption and women's mobility. Her papers have been published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, and Science.

She received a National Science Foundation Early Career Development grant in 2003. The highly competitive award program recognizes promising young scholars with a demonstrated talent for integrating their research with educational activities. She obtained her Ph.D. in economics in 2007 from Yale University.
